Gathering together as a community to rally for the basic human rights of marginalized people. Join the national march at the Texas Capitol on June 11, 2017 from 12:00p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Coinciding with the The National Equality March for Unity and Pride in Washington D.C.
The LGBTQ+ community from all over Texas will march on our State Capitol in resistance to the legislated discrimination against our communities. It is time to demonstrate our solidarity and strength in numbers – WE are the MAKERS of our own HISTORY.
The Texas Equality March will begin with a rally at 12 PM at the south steps of the Texas Capitol Building. We will hear from some hard-working activists, organizers, and leaders from across the state. Our lineup represents the beautiful and rich diversity of Texas’ LGBTQ+ communities, and we are humbled and honored to highlight their advocacy work in this context. Some of our speakers include Fatima Mann from Counter Balance ATX, Naushaba Patel from the Montrose Center, and Adonias Arevalo from United We Dream. We will also hear from Annise Parker, the former mayor of Houston, and the inimitable Ray Hill, whose activism has spanned the past five decades. After the rally, we will march through a circular downtown route: west on 11th St, south on Lavaca, east on 6th St, and north on Congress, ending at the Capitol.
